What TNT supports

  • No API credentials required (uses Pack to the Future partner account)

  • Automatic skid and pallet handling based on weight

  • Weight-based residential surcharges

  • Tailgate / tail-lift delivery options

  • Depot collect (where available)

  • Pack to the Future's AI Address validation to automate residential address detection

How TNT Pricing Works

TNT pricing is made up of several components. Pack to the Future calculates these automatically based on your shipment details.

1. Base Shipping Rate

The base rate depends on:

  • Weight and dimensions

  • Origin and destination

  • Selected TNT service (Road Express or Express)

2. Residential Delivery Surcharges

TNT applies additional fees when delivering to residential addresses. These are weight-based and applied automatically.

Total Weight

Surcharge

0–29kg

$6.50

30–99kg

$69.50

100kg+

$204.50

How it works

  • The delivery address is automatically classified as residential or commercial using Pack to the Future's AI address validator.

  • If residential, the correct surcharge is applied based on total shipment weight in the checkout to avoid under charging your customer

  • Total weight includes any skid or pallet added

Example

  • 5kg residential delivery → +$6.50

  • 35kg residential delivery → +$69.50

  • 75kg item + pallet (100kg total) → +$204.50

3. Tailgate / Tail-Lift Fees

Tailgate service is required when the delivery location does not have forklift access.

Total Weight

Tailgate Fee

30–99kg

$45.00

100–299kg

$85.00

300–499kg

$120.00

500kg+

$250.00

Tailgate fees only apply when Tailgate Delivery is selected.

4. Skids and Pallets

Automatic Handling

  • Skid: Automatically added for shipments ≥30kg (if enabled)

  • Pallet: Automatically added for shipments ≥70kg (mandatory)

Default Weights & Sizes

  • Skid: 18kg – 60 × 55 × 10cm

  • Pallet: 25kg – 120 × 110 × 20cm

You can customise these in carrier settings if your skids or pallets differ.

5. Depot Collect

  • Depot collection is usually free

  • Only shown when the delivery address is within 50km of a TNT depot

  • Merchants may set a custom fee if required

Common Questions

Do I need TNT credentials?
No. TNT runs via Pack to the Future’s partner account. We'll bill you either per shipment or deduct off your pre-paid balance, depending on how you have setup ypur Pack shipping account.

When are skids or pallets added?
Skids from 30kg (if enabled). Pallets from 70kg (mandatory).

Can I change surcharge amounts?
Yes. All surcharge and tailgate fees are configurable.

Why are residential fees higher?
Heavy residential deliveries require additional handling by TNT.

Troubleshooting

No TNT rates showing

  • Carrier not enabled

  • Shipment exceeds TNT limits

  • Address outside Australia

  • Temporary TNT outage

Residential surcharge not applied

  • Address misclassified

  • Surcharge fields set to zero

Skid or pallet missing

  • Auto-add disabled

  • Weight below threshold

  • Manually overridden during booking

Best Practices

  • Enable auto-add skid

  • Use default TNT surcharge values unless advised otherwise

  • Review shipments over 70kg carefully

  • Test quotes before going live

A Quick Heads-Up on Carrier Adjustments

Pack to the Future uses advanced address validation and product data to calculate shipping rates as accurately as possible at the time of booking. This includes checks for residential delivery, weight, dimensions, tailgate requirements, and handling needs.

Final charges are always determined by the carrier. If TNT later applies any adjustments — including residential reclassification, tailgate or lift requirements, weight or dimension discrepancies, or handling fees — those charges will be passed on once TNT notifies us.

How to avoid adjustments

  • Make sure your product weights and dimensions are accurate

  • Enrich new products as they’re added to your store

  • Select tailgate delivery when shipping heavy items to residential addresses

  • Add skids or pallets when required

  • Double-check delivery addresses for residential vs commercial sites

Keeping your data accurate helps ensure the rates you see are the rates you pay.
