⚙️ Setting Up Pack to the Future: Your First 5 Minutes

You’ve installed Pack to the Future—now let’s get your store ready to ship! This quick setup helps make sure you are accurate from day one.

Updated over 11 months ago

🪪 Step 1: Confirm your business details

We’ll pre-fill some of your Shopify info, but double-check:

  • Store name

  • Business address

  • Contact email

✅ These details appear on your shipping labels and in your shipping account setup.

📦 Step 2: Add your packaging types

Choose from our sustainable packaging options:

  • Compostable Mailer Bags (best for soft goods under 5kg)

  • Padded Mailers (ideal for fragile or odd-shaped items)

  • Your own packaging (if you use branded or custom sizes)

You can add multiple options if you ship different product types.

🔧 Add dimensions and weight for each package type to improve label accuracy.

📐 Step 3: Sync your product weights & dimensions

We’ll pull in your Shopify product catalog so you can:

  • Review product weights

  • Add missing weights or dimensions

  • Set defaults for product types (optional)

💡 Accurate product data = better shipping rates and fewer packaging surprises.

🚚 Step 4: Choose your preferred carriers & services

Depending on your region, you can:

  • Connect to Sendle, AusPost, or other carriers

  • Choose default service levels (e.g., standard vs express)

  • Set rules for free shipping thresholds or flat rates

📦 You’ll still be able to adjust services per order, but this sets your defaults.

🖨️ Step 5 (Optional): Connect your label printer

If you're using one of our recommended A6 printers:

  • Download the driver (link provided)

  • Follow the setup steps for your operating system (Mac/PC)

  • Run a test print

💡 You can still download PDF labels if you're not using a printer yet.

🎉 That’s it—you’re ready to ship!

From here, you can start fulfilling orders with:

  • One-click label generation

  • Packaging suggestions based on product size

  • Lower-impact shipping options built in
