Carriers Management Guide

The Carriers page is where you connect and manage shipping carriers in Pack to the Future. This includes network carriers that are ready to use immediately, and BYO (Bring Your Own) carriers that use your own carrier accounts.

Carriers page overview

What it is
The main page for viewing, connecting, and configuring shipping carriers.

How to access
Click Carriers in the left navigation menu, or go to Settings → Carriers.

What you’ll see

  • Network carriers (always available)

  • BYO carriers (require account setup)

  • Connection status for each carrier

  • Manage and setup buttons


Network carriers

What they are
Carriers that are pre-connected and available to all merchants by default.

Available network carriers

  • Aramex – Business standard

  • Couriers Please – Business standard

  • Australia Post – MyPost Business standard and express
    (available on all plans, including Free Forever with a 50 orders/month limit)

How they work

  • Already connected by Pack to the Future

  • No carrier account required

  • Rates are managed by Pack to the Future

  • 15% markup applied to carrier rates

Status
Always shown as Connected with a green badge.

What you can do

  • Use immediately for bookings

  • Configure handling fees, signature, and insurance

  • Enable or disable specific services

  • Set as your default carrier


BYO (Bring Your Own) carriers

What they are
Carriers where you connect your own carrier account to use your negotiated rates.

Available BYO carriers

  • StarTrack – Standard shipping

  • TNT – Standard and overnight express

  • DHL – Express worldwide

  • Australia Post eParcel – Premium eParcel service (BYO only)

How they work

  • You provide your carrier credentials

  • Pack to the Future books shipments using your account

  • 15% transaction fee applies

  • You pay Pack to the Future, who pays the carrier

Plan limits

  • Free plan: BYO not available

  • Starter plan: 1 BYO carrier

  • Warrior+ plan: Unlimited BYO carriers

Status indicators

  • Not connected – Setup required

  • Connected – Green badge, ready to use

  • Disabled – Plan limit reached or upgrade required


Carrier categories

Carriers are grouped by service type to make them easier to understand.

Categories

  • Postal – Australia Post, StarTrack

  • Courier – Aramex, Couriers Please, TNT

  • Express – Australia Post Express, TNT Express, DHL


Carrier list view

What it shows

  • Carrier code badge

  • Carrier name and service type

  • Short description

  • Connection status

  • Action buttons

How to use

  • Review available carriers

  • Check connection status

  • Click Manage or Carrier setup to configure


Connecting a BYO carrier

Step 1: Check your plan

  • Free plan: Upgrade required

  • Starter plan: 1 BYO carrier max

  • Warrior+ plan: Unlimited

If a carrier is disabled, you’ll see an upgrade message.


Step 2: Open carrier setup

  1. Find the BYO carrier

  2. Click Carrier setup

  3. The carrier setup modal opens


Step 3: Enter credentials

Australia Post

  • OAuth (recommended) – Click Connect with OAuth

  • Manual setup – Partner ID, API Key, Merchant Token

Other carriers

  • API Key

  • API Secret (if required)

After entering details, click Test Connection.


Step 4: Test connection

What you’ll see

  • Success – Connection confirmed

  • Error – Details explaining what failed

If it fails:

  • Double-check credentials

  • Confirm API access is enabled

  • Contact the carrier if needed


Step 5: Configure settings

Available settings:

  • Active / inactive toggle

  • Handling fee

  • Signature on delivery

  • Shipping insurance

  • Enabled service rates

Click Save Settings when done.


Step 6: Save settings

What happens

  • Credentials are stored securely

  • Carrier shows as Connected

  • Carrier becomes available for booking


Carrier management modal

What it is
A modal used to manage credentials and carrier behaviour.

Includes

  • Connection status

  • Credential fields

  • Carrier settings

  • Test connection button

  • Save and cancel actions


Active / inactive

Disabling a carrier removes it from booking options without deleting credentials.


Handling fee

Add a per-shipment fee.

Options

  • None

  • Fixed dollar amount

  • Percentage of shipping cost

Example: A $2.50 fixed fee adds $2.50 to each shipment.


Signature on delivery

Requires recipient signature by default.

Best used for:

  • High-value orders

  • Proof-of-delivery needs

This can still be overridden per order.


Shipping insurance

Adds insurance to shipments by default.

Useful for:

  • Valuable items

  • International shipments

Cost varies by carrier and order value.


Enabled rates

Choose which services appear during booking.

This helps:

  • Simplify booking choices

  • Hide services you never use


Test connection

Use this after:

  • Entering new credentials

  • Updating credentials

  • Troubleshooting issues


Save settings

Saves all configuration and credentials.

Requirements

  • Valid credentials

  • At least one rate enabled


Australia Post OAuth connection

What it is
A secure way to connect Australia Post without manually entering credentials.

How it works

  1. Click Carrier setup

  2. Click Connect with OAuth

  3. Log in to Australia Post

  4. Authorise access

  5. You’re redirected back and connected

Why use OAuth

  • More secure

  • Automatic token refresh

  • Faster setup

Manual credentials are still supported if needed.


Managing network carriers

Network carriers can be configured like BYO carriers, except credentials are managed by Pack to the Future.

You can configure

  • Active status

  • Handling fees

  • Signature and insurance

  • Enabled rates

You cannot configure

  • Carrier account credentials

  • Base carrier rates


Carrier status indicators

Connected (network)

Connected and managed by Pack to the Future.

Connected (BYO)

Your account is connected and active.

Not connected

Carrier available but not yet set up.

Disabled

Plan limit reached or upgrade required.


Disconnecting a carrier

You can:

  • Disable the carrier (keeps credentials)

  • Contact support to fully disconnect (removes credentials)

Disconnecting does not affect existing shipments.


Setting a default carrier

How to set

  1. Go to Settings → General

  2. Choose a default carrier

  3. Save settings

This carrier is pre-selected when booking.


Understanding carrier rates

Network carriers

  • Rates provided by Pack to the Future

  • 15% markup applied

  • You pay Pack to the Future

BYO carriers

  • Uses your negotiated carrier rates

  • 15% transaction fee applied

  • You still pay via Pack to the Future


Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect carriers to start shipping?
No. Network carriers are ready immediately.

How many BYO carriers can I connect?
Free: 0, Starter: 1, Warrior+: unlimited.

Can I use network and BYO carriers together?
Yes.

Are my credentials secure?
Yes. Credentials are encrypted and stored securely.

What if a connection stops working?
Use Test Connection. If issues persist, contact support.

Can I set different handling fees per carrier?
Yes.

Can I use Australia Post without OAuth?
Yes, but OAuth is recommended for security and ease of use.

What if a carrier isn’t listed?
Contact support – we’re always adding more integrations.
